The OC818 is built around the handmade CKR12 ceramic capsule, a modern evolution of a classic Viennese design. By using industrial-grade ceramics instead of brass, Austrian Audio ensures extreme consistency between every unit. For the user, this means every OC818 is factory-matched within 1dB, allowing you to add a second microphone at any time for a perfect stereo pair without the need for bespoke matched sets.

Revolutionary Dual Output Technology
Unlike traditional microphones, the OC818 features a second output on its rear, providing independent signals for both the front and back diaphragms. This innovation allows you to record two separate tracks and shape the polar pattern in post-production using the free PolarDesigner plugin. You can even set different polar patterns for up to five frequency bands, enabling you to "design" the microphone’s response to suit your specific room and source after the recording is finished.

Modern Wireless Workflow
While the signal path remains 100% analogue, the OC818 incorporates microprocessor-controlled polarisation voltages. When used with the optional OCR8 Bluetooth dongle, you can remotely adjust polar patterns, high-pass filters, and pads from your mobile device via the PolarPilot app. This is an essential workflow benefit for engineers working in high-ceiling environments or hard-to-reach positions where manual adjustments are impossible.
