Trinnov NOVA 2.1.3 Expands Into 7.1.4 Immersive Monitoring

NOVA Bundle 12 Is Ready for Full 7.1.4 Monitoring

Trinnov NOVA is taking a major step beyond stereo and conventional multichannel monitoring with software version 2.1.3. The update adds a new Immersive mode that extends Trinnov Optimizer processing to complete monitoring systems of up to 7.1.4, giving studios a more direct path into Dolby Atmos and other immersive production workflows.

NOVA 2.1.3 supports as many as 12 optimized loudspeaker channels through Dante, allowing one compact 1U processor to handle room and speaker optimization across an entire 7.1.4 monitoring system.

If you're planning a complete immersive system, the NOVA Bundle 12 is particularly well matched to the new capabilities in version 2.1.3. With 12 optimized channels available, the bundle is ready to support a full 7.1.4 loudspeaker configuration without requiring additional channel expansion.

This makes the NOVA Bundle 12 a straightforward starting point for a new immersive room or an existing facility moving into 7.1.4 production. Calibration, room correction, and loudspeaker optimization remain within the NOVA platform, while Dante provides the multichannel connection required to bring the individual speaker feeds into the processor.

How Immersive Mode Works

NOVA does not perform Dolby Atmos decoding. Instead, the DAW or external renderer generates the individual output channels. Those discrete channels are then sent to NOVA through Dante, where Trinnov Optimizer processing is applied before the signal reaches the monitoring system.

Immersive mode supports configurations up to 7.1.4 with 12 discrete channels, Dante inputs at sample rates up to 48 kHz, one speaker set, and dedicated Immersive presets created through the NOVA Wizard.

This setup makes NOVA particularly relevant for production, mixing, mastering, and quality-control rooms that need accurate immersive monitoring without moving to a substantially larger processor.

A More Practical Upgrade Path

One of the most useful parts of NOVA 2.1.3 is that existing hardware does not need to be replaced to gain immersive capability.

A NOVA system with eight licensed Optimizer channels automatically gains access to as many as 12 optimized channels when operating in Immersive mode. No additional channel licences are required beyond those eight Optimizer channels.

For a NOVA 6 owner, reaching the full 7.1.4 configuration requires one additional OPT2-NOVA two-channel licence. That expands the system from six licensed channels to eight, which then enables all 12 channels required for 7.1.4 operation in Immersive mode.

For studios currently working in stereo or surround and considering Dolby Atmos, this provides a much more manageable route into a full immersive monitoring system.

Standard Monitoring Now Supports Eight Channels

The update also expands NOVA outside Immersive mode. Standard monitoring configurations can now use up to eight optimized channels instead of the previous six.

That additional capacity gives engineers more flexibility when building surround systems, working with multiple monitor sets, or configuring more involved monitoring layouts while continuing to use NOVA's conventional monitoring workflow.

Calibration and Workflow Improvements

Version 2.1.3 brings several changes aimed at making NOVA easier to configure and operate from day to day.

Calibration graphs are now visible directly inside the NOVA Wizard, making it easier to review measurement and calibration results during setup. Clock management has also been revised for more predictable behaviour when working with Dante and NOVA's internal clock.

Bass Management can now recalculate automatically when switching between compatible speaker sets. Reboot and shutdown commands are available directly from the interface and La Remote, reducing the need for physical access to the processor.

Target Curve editing has also been refined. Keyboard adjustments can now be made in increments as small as 0.1 dB, while Target Curve Presets provide five predefined starting points and the ability to save custom curves.

NOVA can additionally be configured to start automatically after power is restored. Trinnov has also included a range of bug fixes and performance improvements in the release.

A Significant Expansion for Existing NOVA Systems

NOVA 2.1.3 changes the scale of monitoring system the platform can support without changing the underlying hardware or Optimizer workflow.

A processor originally suited to stereo and smaller multichannel rooms can now optimize a complete 7.1.4 monitoring environment. For NOVA 6 users in particular, the ability to reach 12-channel immersive operation with a single additional two-channel licence makes the upgrade path especially straightforward.

For facilities planning a move into immersive production, the update makes NOVA considerably more capable while keeping the system contained within the same 1U format.
