Description
Clean, Clear Passive EQ with Tube Amplification
It's based on the legendary passive EQ processors of the '60s and '70s, that the WesAudio LC-EQP passive equalizer was breathe new life into it. The all-analogue signal path with premium Carnhill transformers maintains your sonic integrity while you shape your sounds with powerful Boost and Cut controls. And just like classic Pultec equalizers, you can Boost and Cut lows or highs simultaneously, allowing you to emphasize the center frequency while trimming excess frequencies. Use one to create commanding kick drums, soaring vocals, and vibrant acoustic instruments, or get a pair of WesAudio LC-EQP equalizers to polish your stereo bus with exquisite results.
Simple controls = excellent sound
With only 4 main controls and 9 knobs total, the WesAudio LC-EQP is incredibly intuitive to use. There are 4 bands: Low Boost, Low Cut, High Boost, and High Cut, all of which are shelves except for the High Boost, which is a bell shape with a selectable Q (in the form of the “Bandwidth” knob with values from 1 to 10). Each band has a selector knob to choose the frequency (specifications below), with plenty of options to dial in the perfect sound. As you would hope from an analogue EQ, the bands interact in a sympathetic, musical way that enhances any sound.
Sparkling High-End Sheen
One of the best things about the LC-EQP is the airy sparkle that the high boost can add to your audio. With frequency options from 1-20kHz and adjustable Q, you can easily dial in the exact boost your audio needs, from added mid-range energy to high-end sparkle and sheen.
Classic Low-End Boost and Cut
In the low end, the WesAudio LC-EQP is set up perfectly to achieve the classic boost and cut sound that was a favourite feature of classic EQs such as the Pultec EQP-1A. It may seem like a strange idea, but using both the Low Boost and the Low Cut simultaneously can result in a nice low-end boost that leaves the midrange clean and clear. This is because their curves are different, so the Low Cut creates a dip in the start of the Low Boost shelf. For low-end weight with midrange clarity, think the WesAudio LC-EQP!
Passive EQ circuitry and twin-tube amplification
WesAudio used only the best components when designing the LC-EQP, which features Carnhill transformers and a passive system of coils, resistors, and capacitors for the EQ block. The gain recovery stage sounds fantastic, due to its use of 2 dual-triode tubes and the lack of feedback, which results in minimal distortion of transients. There is a true bypass for clear A/Bing, and the input impedance is matched.
