The matte gray Colette CMC 6U Microphone Amplifier & MK 4 Cardioid Capsule from Schoeps includes the CMC 6U analog microphone amplifier, an MK4 cardioid capsule, an SG 20 microphone stand adapter, a B 5 solid foam popscreen, and a wooden storage case.
The CMC 6U analog microphone amplifier is designed for standard +48V and +12V phantom powering. Its circuitry recognizes the supply voltage and adjusts itself automatically. Its performance characteristics are similar at both phantom power levels. The main difference is that the current drawn at +12V is greater than that drawn at +48V. However, the +12V mode consumes less power and might be preferred for battery-powered recording.
The microphone amplifier provides electrostatic charge to energize the microphone capsule and receive signal. The signal then needs to be amplified. To avoid interference with the signal on the way from the microphone to the input of the mixer or preamp, the balanced signal is carried at low impedance. The CMC 6U amplifier offers a symmetrical, transformerless, direct-coupled Class A output stage with low impedance, distortion, and interference.
The MK 4 cardioid microphone capsule offers a unidirectional pickup pattern throughout its frequency range. It is suitable for a wide range of applications such as music and speech.
The Schoeps CMC6-U is a balanced output stage and +12 to +48V phantom power supply for the Schoeps Colette series modular capsules. The transformer-less output stage ensures low-noise and pristine audio reproduction throughout. The CMC6-U is terminated with a standard balanced 3-pin XLR connection for use with standard microphone inputs and preamplifiers.
Schoeps MK4 Cardioid Capsule for CMC Preamplifiers
The Schoeps MK4 is part of the Colette series of modular capsules designed for use with the CMC preamplifiers. The cardioid polar pattern results in maximum rejection of rear incidental audio signal, eliminating off-axis noise and feedback. The cardioid pattern allows microphone placement to occur farther from the sound source than a pressure transducer of equivalent sensitivity. The MK4 is ideal for both speech and music capturing, resulting in rich detail without coloration. The MK4 is also a viable solution for X/Y or Mid-Side stereo recording.
Cardioid Polar Pattern
The cardioid pattern effectively rejects rear and off-axis audio signal resulting in greater signal to noise ratio and feedback rejection.
Excellent Directional Response
The cardioid characteristic allows the MK4 to be placed at further proximities from the signal source without degradation.
Wide Linear Frequency Response
The wide frequency response ensures accurate detail regardless of the source signal.
Schoeps Solid Foam Teardrop Popscreen for Schoeps Colette Series Microphones (Gray)
This gray Solid Foam Teardrop Popscreen from Schoeps is an acoustic foam close-speech popscreen intended for use with Schoeps Colette Series microphones, but compatible with other microphone capsules as well. It provides sufficient protection at normal speaking distances for cardioids and other directional capsules, especially when speech capsules are used. With omnidirectional capsules, it may even be used outdoors in light wind. This popscreen has minimal effect on sound quality.
For moderate distances from the person speaking

The Schoeps MK8 is part of the Colette series of modular capsules designed for use with the CMC preamplifiers. The single diaphragm produces a figure-eight polar pattern. The pattern ideally captures audio at the front and back of the capsule and may be used in stereo M/S applications, ambiance capturing and more. The MK8 is ideal for both speech and music capturing, resulting in rich detail without coloration.
