AKG C104 Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone

The New Benchmark for Studio Capture

The AKG C104 is a professional side-address cardioid condenser microphone designed to bring legendary, mature audio capture to modern home studios, broadcast setups and content creators. Perfect for musicians, vocalists, podcasters and streamers, this workhorse delivers exceptional vocal presence and instrumental clarity without a complex setup. Built to perform across diverse sources - from spoken word and soaring vocals to acoustic guitars and guitar cabinets - it ensures a detailed and balanced recording every time.

Warm, Mature Character with Velvet Highs
The C104 features a precision-engineered 22mm electret capsule and an optimised transformerless FET circuit that delivers a balanced, mature sound. Instead of the harsh, brittle high-end common in budget condensers, it offers a smooth, natural top end with a touch of airy detail. Up close, the microphone exhibits a remarkably rich and well-behaved proximity effect that adds low-end warmth and authority to speech and vocals without becoming muddy. It is the perfect tool for achieving that intimate, broadcast-quality vocal depth.

Massive Headroom for Dynamic Power
Engineered to handle sound pressure levels up to 143dB SPL, the C104 handles highly dynamic and loud sources with complete ease. This exceptional headroom ensures that screaming vocals, high-volume guitar cabinets or energetic percussion are captured cleanly without introducing perceptible distortion. The single-sided, nickel-sputtered diaphragm prevents electrical shorting to the back electrode under high pressures, providing reliable, ultra-low noise performance.

Robust, RF-Shielded Sustainable Build
Nodding to the iconic C414 heritage, the C104 features a classy satin-black, all-metal body made from 100% recycled PIR metals and alloys. This rugged construction not only protects the microphone from tough studio handling but also excels at rejecting radio frequency (RF) interference near wireless equipment or transmitters. Furthermore, with 80% sustainability by weight - incorporating sugarcane trays, corn-starch bags and soy-ink printed boxes - this is a professional tool that supports your art and protects the environment.
