The balanced, all-tube circuit is based on the 6386 tube and is inspired by the revered Gates STA-Level compressor. What this means for you is a compressor with tons of character that is also easy to dial in. Three modes of operation give you access to a range of attack and release recovery behaviors — it's ready to create rock-solid bass guitar tracks and smash snare drums without pumping (unless you want it to), along with more subtle dynamics control. Vintage tube compression is a sound your studio should have at its disposal, and the WesAudio Timbre Vari-Mu tube compressor is an outstanding solution.
Three modes for a variety of attack/release characteristics
Use the Timbre compressor's Mode selector to choose from three distinct behaviors for attack and release recovery. Single mode offers a slow attack that is extremely smooth. Double mode employs intelligent, program-controlled attack and release behavior — it's fine-tuned to maximize sonic density and detail, without the pumping sound most compressors create. Triple mode is also automatically controlled by the incoming audio with extra fast attack for maximum density.
Six release times for each mode
The Release control on the Timbre Vari-Mu compressor is a six-way selector, ranging from slow to fast as you turn it clockwise. Each of these six settings is affected by the operation mode you've selected (Single, Double, or Triple). Spend some time tweaking vocals, bass, guitars, drums and anything else you mix on a regular basis, and you'll soon find that dialing in your favorite compression character is fast and simple.
