A European-flavoured Money Channel for Your Studio

Launched December 2020, Heritage Audio introduces BritStrip — a single-space 19-inch rack device that recreates a British-spec discrete Class-A console channel strip, with the same diode bridge compressor found in Heritage’s Successor stereo bus compressor. This console channel strip combines a 73 mic preamplifier, an expanded 73 equalizer, and a discrete Class-A DI (Direct Input) with the Successor’s diode bridge compressor.

This channel strip boasts a transparent passive design to minimize insertion loss, with top-level components to ensure the best sound possible. The BritStrip’s preamp delivers a classic “British Iron” sound with up to +80dB of input gain, and its 3-band EQ nails the sonics and behaviour of revered British-style units. And when you fire up its compressor, your tracks will gain a studio-quality polish, with incredible weight and colour. The BritStrip’s 24-step detented output provides rock-solid stereo imaging when using the built-in stereo link to pair it with another unit. If you’re in need of an amazing-sounding analogue front end for your DAW, the BritStrip from Heritage Audio is highly recommended.

BritStrip

The BritStrip starts with the same preamp as the Heritage Audio 73JR, with a new custom input transformer co-designed with Carnhill and exclusively made for HA in the St Ives factory. The preamp also features a custom Carnhill/St Ives output transformer, which completes its all-discrete, Class-A, 3-gain stage design. The preamp features 80 dB of gain, 20dB pad, phase reversal and an impedance switch for 1200 or 300 ohm input.

DI Input

The DI is also taken from the Heritage Audio 73JR, and all-discrete Class-A JFET circuit in front of the microphone transformer. The DI also includes a passive thru output to feed a separate amplifier.

Heritage Audio EQ

Expanded 73 EQ

The EQ is a 3 band design with high and low shelves, with a mid band and a 5 position HPF. The EQ features 3 Vinkor pot core inductors in the mid-band and high pass filter sections. The high and low shelves have been extended to include a bell mode — making them more versatile than ever before.
